Oblivion junkie

June 29, 2009

I know I shouldn’t have started ANOTHER game of Oblivion on someone else’s game system (I now have 3 games: one on Manthax’s PS3, one on Dani’s XBox [maybe?] and now one on Tony’s PS3), but I did :-) Maybe someone would like to buy me my own game system so I can play my very own game?

Tonight, I geeked out beyond beyond belief and made a spreadsheet of all the Forts, Mines and Caves with a column beside each one where I can mark whether I have raided them, stored stuff there, found things I couldn’t carry because of weight, etc.

Here’s the file if anyone would like it. I already have Fort Magia marked with an X, meaning I’ve raided it, but you can just erase it if you need. EDIT: Turns out I can’t upload .xls files. I could email it to you if you want.

Amelia’s Mechanics

June 24, 2009

At the beginning of this year, I heard Molly McGinn and Kasey Horton at M’Coul’s and they kicked butt. This weekend I heard them as the band Amelia’s Mechanic, which includes Molly Miller (whom I’ve stalked via my friend Elizabeth for years). This band is amazing. Seriously, get out there and see them, people!

You can see two videos on on their site. “Moonshine Driving” is such a neat/fun video. Also, see if you don’t get lost in Molly McGinn’s eyes from 1:58 to 2:11. I dare you.

100 yr. old Russian COLOR photography!

June 24, 2009

Happy 100th anniversary to the Russian color photography project (not the actual name, just sums it up nicely).

Seriously, in 1909, some amazingly beautiful and somewhat haunting pictures were taken in Russia in FULL COLOR. Gorgeous stuff, too. You can find the story and pics over at Socyberty. My personal favorite is the Emir of Bukhara, which is now Uzbekistan. This picture was taken in 1911. 694px-Prokudin-Gorskii-19

Ed McMahon passes

June 24, 2009

I learned a few hours ago from shakesville that Ed McMahon passed away. Maybe it’s an age thing, but when I told a younger friend of mine about it, she said, “Wasn’t he the guy with the big checks?” *sigh*

Anyway, RIP, Mr. Big Checks, Mr. Star Search and Mr. Johnny Carson’s sidekick.

Here’s a little something for ya. It also shows off my new haircut.
